![]() She happily walks by my side now, is much more obedient in general and her reactivity to other dogs & people is definitely going in the right direction. We did a 5day kick-starter, followed by 5 1to1 sessions, which we've just finished. We have a way to go before we are where we need to be, but the difference already is immeasurable. I was given clear targets and steps to follow each week and these were reinforced at the 1to1 sessions. It's been a lot of hard work but super rewarding, our bond is definitely much stronger and we're both much happier now. He's kind and supportive but very firm with both me and Nahla! I remember telling him at the start that she behaved most of the time and he pointed out that in reality she really just did whatever she wanted the majority of the time but it was just that it didn't bother me most of the time! This was totally spot on and helped hugely in my understanding of what needed to change. She was dragging me along on walks, super reactive to other dogs, jumping up at people, not listening and was generally just being a bit of a lovable nuisance. Our trainer, Dan, has been brilliant. She's an incredibly excitable and a super high energy dog.Whilst her friendliness was adorable as a little puppy it was fast becoming uncontrollable, especially when she got to the 20+ kg mark. I contacted YCA to help me with my 9 month golden retriever Nahla. We offer short term and long-term residential stays and have a curriculum for each however, we can also offer custom length courses to fit around your schedule or holidays. Lead Manners / Reliable Sit / Place Command / Crate Training / Recall / Controlled Play As well as behaviour modification the stay will include: Once the residential training comes to end your dog should have be out of the red and into the black ready for you to take the reigns and start your training journey with a clean slate. This ensures your dog understands what they’ve been taught even under high distraction, real life situations. We then replicate the training in as many different environments as possible such as cafe’s, parks, train stations, beer gardens, shopping centres etc etc. Our training facility allows us to control and manage the environment to the point that we can almost immediately close the old bank account and start making deposits into the new. Sometimes, real life situations and environments don’t allow us to close that old unwanted bank account. Until the alternate bank account has greater equity than the old, the unwanted behaviour will still exist. The next step is to then open a new bank account of an alternate behaviour. The first step of behaviour modification is blocking our dog’s ability to deposit into this bank account. Every time your dog has opportunity to practice this bad behaviour, it gets stronger, this is what we refer to as a ‘behavioural bank account’. Chances are, you’re looking for help because your dog has an unwanted or multiple unwanted behaviours. ![]()
